What title can you possibly confer upon the magician that has already been granted the “Magician of the Century” and the “Magician of the Millennium” acclamations?
On September 14, 2011 David Copperfield was crowned the first-ever “King of Magic” by the Society of American Magicians. Copperfield was granted this, his newest title, in honor of his efforts “to advance, elevate, and preserve magic as a performing art, to promote harmonious fellowship throughout the world of magic, and to maintain and improve ethical standards in the field of magic.” The Society of American Magicians was founded, in the back room of a New York magic shop, in 1902. Harry Houdini, himself, once served as National President for the organization. The Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.) is the oldest and most prestigious magic organization in the world.
